PORTRAIT OF THE PAINTER
Born in an aristocratic family of Travancore, Ravi Varma was a child prodigy. Acknowledged as the father of Modern Indian Art, he evolved a unique painting style merging the traditional Indian style of painting with the European classic realism. He was the first to give a face to Hindu Gods and Goddesses by creating their realistic images.
His paintings based on stories from Indian mythology and classic literature created a pan Indian iconography which became the basis of an Indian identity.
He is acknowledged as the father of modern Indian art and the originator of what is called ‘Calendar Art’.
India – end of the 19th century. The famous artist Raja Ravi Varma is arrested and charged with obscenity, immorality and hurting religious sentiments of the people. His offence – painting of Indian mythological characters.

Woven with the case is the classic love story of the artist and his muse – Sugandha. Together they create the most amazing works of art. Her beauty inspires him to create exquisite paintings based on themes from Indian mythology and classic literature. She becomes his muse, his inspiration…his love.

Bachna Ae Haseeno Review
Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone, Minissha Lamba;
Director: Siddharth Anand;
The guy breaks heart of first 2 girls so badly and he never realizes it until his third girlfriend breaks his heart and makes him suffer the pain associated with a spilt up.
The movie starts with a guy going back to his flashback and taking us to Switzerland where he had fallen in love for the first time (with Minnisha Lamba). The director had tried very hard to show us that it was actually 1996 but somehow it feels, the actors looked lot older than those 18 year olds.
2nd story takes place in 2002, with Bipasha Basu. The guy is shown working for Microsoft's gaming section. Okay, now here the guy looks younger whereas Bipasha looks older. It is a kind of mismatch but here, there are few comedy scenes and the performance looks much real. Especially, Bipasha has really done a wonderful job.
Now, year 2007, the guy is in Sydney where he meets Deepika Padukone. There is indeed some kind of spark between Ranbir and Deepika. Maybe being a real life couple has helped them to showcase a beautiful chemistry on the celluloid. Deepika certainly has done justice with her character.
The movie seems quite ok in the first half but as it reaches interval, the whole movie becomes very predictable. The second half is emotional and a bit too long. The execution of the script by the director especially in the second half could have been better. The editing too could have been much crisper. As expected by the Yashraj productions, the music is superb, especially two songs, the classic Bachna Ae Haseeno and Khuda Jaane, really stand out. The cinematography is fantastic; the locales of Australia and Italy have been beautifully captured.On the acting front, Ranbir looks pretty good though he was kind of over the board in first story but overall he has done a good job. Minnisha again goes overboard like Ranbir in first story but later it is all good. Bipasha despite of looking bit older in front of Ranbir is the best of the lot. Deepika too is good. Actually, she did not have much to do.
The movie could have been made much better, in terms of execution, story et al. The concept of 1 guy falling in love with 3 girls is great but the way it is turned out is bad. They could have made it thorough romantic comedy flick rather than adding some drama and all.
So, overall, it seems that the movie would do good business. It may be liked by few while few might not like it. It should get mixed reactions.

Jaane Tu ...Ya Jaane Na is a Hindi movie, which will be released in 2008. This film is directed by Abbas Tyrewala. The movie is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and PVR Cinema. The movie Jaane Tu ...Ya Jaane Na introduces bollywood actor Aamir Khan's nephew Imran Khan. Telugu actress Genelia in the role of leading lady. Famous music director A. R. Rahman will compose his tunes for this movie.
Aamir Khan continues his family tradition by providing a launch platform to his nephew Imraan Khan by producing Director Abbas Tyrewala’s directorial debut Jaane tu ya Jaane Na. 19 years ago Aamir was launched by his cousin in Qayamat se Qayamat Tak. Imraan Khan has taken formal acting training and was screen tested by Director Abbas, the movie was being initially produced by Jhamu Sughand but however things didn’t fall in place and Aamir had to come to rescue his nephews debut project.
AR Rehman has been signed to compose the music of this romantic comedy in which Aamir is expected to make a cameo appearance. Besides Aamir actors Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak, Arbaaz Khan and Arshad Warsi would be doing cameos in Jaane tu Ya Jaane Na. The movie is Abbas Tyrewala’s first directorial venture but he does have to his credit great scripts like Main Hoon Na, Maqbool and Munnabhai MMBS. Aamir who is all excited about launching his nephew has put his movie with director Amol Gupte on a hold for a while. Jaane tu Ya Jaane NA is to go on floors this October and would see a 2007 release.

Bollywood Kismat Konnection Movie Review
Movie: Kismat Konnection
Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Juhi Chawla, Om Puri, Boman Irani, Vishal Malhotra
Director: Aziz Mirza
Just like any other Bollywod flick, in this film also, Raj (Shahi Kapoor) and Priya (Vidya Balan) meet each other. But despite feeling love for each other the only thing they develop for each other is pure hatred. But see the kismet connection hidden in such a chemistry which turns bad luck of Raj, who has been fighting for getting a better work for last five years in the field of Architecture, into a good one. Raj comes to his fortune teller Hassena Banu Jaan (Juhi Chawla) and describes everything to her. Banu tells him that Priya is his lucky charm and for a better future he should always take her with him to wherever he goes for his job. Raj agrees on it and takes Priya to a meeting with Batra & Gill, a company that wants to construct a shopping mall. But soon Raj comes to know that the proposed mall is going to be made by demolishing Priya’s community centre. Priya helps Raj without having any idea about what’s going on. But as soon as Raj gets the project, the reality comes into open for Priya. For the sake of love Raj proposes Gill (Om Puri) for building the combination of shopping mall and community center but Gill denies it. At the end of the story Priya’s kismet helps Raj once again and Mr. Batra (Boman Irani), friend to Priya and partner of Batra & Gill, accepts Raj’s proposal of making the shopping mall beside the community centre.
Shahid in Kismat KonnectionShahid must remember that audience’s expectation regarding his characters in films has touched the sky after the success of Jab We Met and he must accept films keeping that in mind only. At the same time he must avoid playing the stereotype characters. On the other hand Vidya has tried her best to live the life of her character but unfortunately the character, especially her outfits, hasn’t suit her level best. I guess she must not attempt this kind of characters. Juhi Chawla is excellent in the character of Hassena Bano but the lose bangle in her hand made audience think about possibilities that forced her wearing it. Few scenes with Vidya made us realize like Juhi’s jewelries are put on Vidya. Om Puri and Boman Irani are good as usual. Himani Shivpuri proved with two scenes that character maybe small but it has to be strong.
Lovely Pair of Kismat KonnectionThere is nothing to talk about other characters of the film. Despite its length of 2 and half an hour, the film seemed longer and unusually slow. Aziz Mirza has chosen beautiful locations but he better has understood that beautiful locations cannot make beautiful films. Music and lyrics are not to the marks.
Expectations of watching a good film may drag a lot of audiences to the theatre but they better know in advance that the film has nothing extraordinary to offer the audience. People will surely fail to connect to the film, if not to the stars.
